Breathe Again

Not only does it look great seeing the original brickwork the owners of this house in Millthorpe are also helping to conserve the building. Removal of thick layers of paint from the exterior will allow the bricks to breathe and allow moisture to evaporate. Frequently with older buildings painted brickwork causes moisture to become trapped beneath the paint causing the brickwork to disintegrate over time.

It can be very satisfying bringing an old place back to life. For anyone interested in restoring an older home NSW Environment and Heritage has a wealth of free information available for download as part of their Maintenance Series.
